FCC

Government Shut Down

The FCC this morning released several public notices providing further information about the impact of the government shut down. The FCC said that while it will not be open for normal operations during any government-wide shutdown, its Operations Center it may be contacted in the case of an emergency affecting the safety of life or the protection of property at 202-418-1122. Postponed Public Workshop on E911 Phase II

In addition, the FCC Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau postponed the public workshop on E911 Phase II location accuracy, previously scheduled to be held on October 2, 2013. The workshop will be rescheduled at a later date.

 

 

IOWA

The Iowa Utilities Board is considering CenturyLink’s request that the Des Moines Downtown wire center be classified as a Tier 1 non-impaired wire center for DS1 and DS3 transport and dark fiber based on the number of fiber-based collocators.
