California

Earlier this month, the PUC extended the statutory deadline (to October 3, 2015) in the investigation to consider whether Comcast and its related entities may have violated various constitutional provisions, statutory laws, rules, and regulations of California in disclosing and publishing the names, telephone numbers, and addresses of Comcast’s residential subscribers who paid a monthly fee to have that personal information be unlisted and whether to penalize Comcast. Now the PUC is seeking comment on whether fines and/or penalties should be imposed upon Comcast and its related entities, and (a) If so, in what kind(s) and/or amount(s), against which entity or entities, and how such fines and/or penalties are calculated and justified; and (b) If not, why not, and what factors should be considered in determining that fines and/or penalties are not justified or should be reduced.
