Alabama To Implement New Rules For Inmate Calling Services

The Alabama Public Service Commission declined to further extend its stay of the implementation of its December 9, 2014, Final Order adopting new rules for inmate calling service (ICS). Accordingly, ICS providers must begin implementing the order on July 1, 2015. The important due dates during the first 60 days are as follows:

inmate calling services regulationIn Part 1 of this multi-part series dated 10/22/13, I identified several of the many issues raised in this latest rulemaking by the Alabama Public Service Commission.  The PSC’s Order issued October 1  proposes significantly more extensive regulatory control of ICS providers. In this second article, I discuss some key issues  regarding Video Visitation Service, ICS Rates, and Site Commissions.
