Arkansas PUC Seeks Comment on the NANPA Report and Recommendations 

The Arkansas Public Utilities Commission (Commission) released an Order in Docket No. 09-043-U. The Order seeks comment to the October 28, 2021, Report and Recommendations (Report) issued by the North American Numbering Plan Administrator (NANPA).  In the Report, NANPA recommends eight alternatives to the pending exhaustion of area code 870. The Commission is looking for feedback on the recommendations and implementation schedule set forth in the Report.  Initial comments are due by noon on December 1, 2021 and reply comments by noon on December 16, 2021. 

 

FCC Seeks to Eliminate Foreign Originated Robocalls 

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) aimed at eliminating foreign originated illegal robocalls. The FCC proposes rules requiring gateway providers to apply STIR/SHAKEN caller identification authentication to calls originating outside of the country. Comments to these proposed rules are due on or before November 26, 2021.
