Today’s Regulatory Mix: Comments Deadline Set in Drone Proceeding, FCC Releases Communications Status Report for Hurricane Ida for September 9

Comments Deadline Set in Drone Proceeding

The Wireless Telecommunications Bureau seeks to refresh and update the record in a proceeding commenced by the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) in 2018 that asked the FCC to adopt licensing and service rules for Control and NonPayload Communications (CNPC) links in the 5030–5091 MHz band to support Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operations in the United States. The FCC seeks comment on questions related to AIA’s proposal, but also whether the Commission should consider licensing in the 5 GHz band not just for radio line of sight (LOS) links, but also for beyond LOS (BLOS) links. Comments are due October 12, 2021 and reply comments are due October 25, 2021.
